This is Ash's Domain. This page doesn't really serve much of a purpose except as a homepage (I don't like using that word bc "homepage" usually suggests a suck page). This site includes stuff that I like including Star Wars and "Seinfeld." Also, I refuse to put the name of the movie, Ti***ic, on my site. Why? Basically, cuz I don't like that fact that such a movie is the top-grossing movie of all-time. If you have a comment or a suggestion, post a message on the message board or email me.

The menu on the main page was created using authentic Mr. Big graphix. He's a great amateur graphix designer. This site uses primarily the "Arial Narrow" font and also the "Westminster" font in a few places*. So, unless you have these fonts installed, the text won't appear as I intended. I think most people have "Arial Narrow", and the "Westminster" is not used much so it's not a big deal.

I use Frontpage to make a lot of these pages, but mainly in times when it makes things easier (i.e. frames, color selection, tables, etc.).  Most other times, I work with just HTML with Notepad. I use Photoshop (as does Mr. Big) to make any graphix that I make (like the linx and info logos).

To install w/ Windows:
download the font, unzip it, and then place it in your fonts directory of your Windows folder

 

Browser Issues

Here I just want to address some browser compatibility issues (I'm not sure why? Y'know with all the millions of visitors I get and all)

Anyway, this page looks best with Internet Explorer 4 or above bc that's what I mainly use, and it seems to support more features that I like. IE 4+ users can press the "F11" key to view in full screen. Other browsers generally work fine, but some stuff won't be seen. Netscape doesn't properly support the CSS (cascading style sheets) that I use on this page. All that means is that some of the linx would change in appearance (color or style) when you hover over them w/ the mouse w/ IE 4 or above. Nevertheless, Netscape 4 worx pretty well.

Older browsers (generation 3) generally don't support the Javascript hover buttons in the menu, but still, it should look fine. And well, if your browser doesn't support frames, naturally there would be probs. If this applies, you should consider getting a newer browser (at least one that supports frames).

 

About me

My name is Nirav (pronounced "Ne-ro") aka Ash. I'm a junior in computer-science, and this is my first website (although I've had it for several years now). I got my nick from The Crow. I liked the handle, and I began using it in Quake. Then I started using it for other stuff. Just to clarify, Ashe was the name of the guy in The Crow 2: City of Angels. I liked the name, but the movie wasn't that good. The first Crow was much better. So, no, I did not get my name from Pokemon. In fact, it really annoys me when people say that. I have had my nick long before Pokemon got popular.

As you may have noticed, I like Star Wars a lot! I'm proud to say that I've never seen Ti***ic, and as previously mentioned, I refuse to put the full name of that on my site. Also, I love "Seinfeld," and it is without a doubt my favorite show! Quake is my favorite game to play online. I haven't played it in a while, however. Quake seems to have been replace by Quake 3 now. Yea sure, there was Quake 2. And you may ask why that didn't replace Quake 1. Well the answer is simple: Quake 2 sucked. Q3, on the other hand, is a great sequel, and only now will Quake 1 die. 

Other games I play are usually roms of SNES games. I just love the RPG's that are on the SNES! I have beaten in no particular order: Soul Blazer, The Secret of Mana, The Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, Lufia, and Breath of Fire. That's all I can think of right now. I am currently playing Lufia 2 (rom). I also have the following roms lined up to play (if I have time!): Breath of Fire 2, Final Fantasy 5 (translated into English), Secret of Mana 2 (supposedly translated), Tales of Phantasia (partially translated). I've also played Final Fantasy 3, but I have a sad story that goes with that.

I've never beat FF3 cuz something always comes up to ruin it for me! Years ago, when my friend was playing it, I always made sure not to see the ending so I wouldn't mess it up for myself. Then, when I started the game, I got about halfway into the game (around 26 hours), and my friend (who I borrowed it from) decided to take the game back. For some reason (I still don't know why), he decided not to be my friend anymore. Well that's that. It took me a while before I finally got up the energy to try it again. This time, I played it and got all the way to the end of the game (Kefka's Tower). Then, cuz of some glitch, all of the saved games were erased! I'm sure it was well over 40 hours that just ... went to waste! I've never had the heart to try again since then. I'll probably end up getting the rom for it, and then get a saved game from somewhere that's at the end of the game.

Let's see. . . what else? I am proficient in C (the programming language) bc I've taken classes upon classes with it. I've also know C++, Assembly, and FORTRAN.  I've learned a lot of HTML through what I've done with this site. Actually, it's rather amazing how much HTML you can learn by just messin around w/ a website. I've also learned some Javascript and DHTML (mainly CSS) through a combination of messing around and online tutorials.
